Two Boys Tuesday...

Teri had the day off today cuz she has to work on Friday to fill in for a co-worker...so she had some time to help us visit some of our furriends today and write a blog post and mail off a few auction items too (we donated 13 things to help Coco, too...). That was pretty tiring, so we all napped until dinner time...

But today's post is about two boys...Clem and Hero. We think we told you that one of the Vet Tech's at VOSM is interested in adopting one of the boys! Teri sent her all kinds of Cornish Rex info, on their care and such, as well as her 4 page Adoption Application.

She is looking forward to getting to know Emily and Daniel better and having them meet all of us when they come for a visit if they pass 'muster', hahameow. They do not have any other pets, which is nice and at least from the photos Teri sent them, they both really like Hero's looks.

So Teri has been letting Hero and Clement spend lots of time together and that is enabling her to get to know their temperaments better than when they are alone.

Clem seems very relaxed and happy with a companion cat in 'his room'. Teri says he reminds her a lot of Coco...very demonstrative and vocal.  Teri even saw Clem 'grooming' Hero although it kinda turned into a 'bitey', and so far they have curled up on the bed, at different ends but that's ok. There has been very little hissing and swatting.

On the other hand, Hero is a bit jumpy and nervous, but his previous family said he was very 'jumpy' and frightened of new things like the vacuum or paper bags or loud noises. It may take him a while to feel comfortable, but he is being good about using the litter box in Clem's room and that's a good sign.

Teri is still keeping them separated at night or when she isn't home, but maybe after next weekend, they can try being full-time room mates...

Here's a couple of videos that Teri took today (we know they are behind those doors but we really haven't gotten to see much of them, either!)...

Mancat Monday--Disco's Diet

MeWowZa! We are Posting Disco's weekly weigh-in results, after 1 week on Young Again's Zero Carb dry and Rad Cat's Raw Free Range Chicken.

Disco went from 16# 3 ounces a week ago to 15# 10 ounces today... That's 10 ounces in a week and actually might be a little too fast... Nutritionists say about 4 ounces a week is a safe rate of weight loss.

But he is cleaning up the 'wet' food and Teri's seen us all nibbling on the dry, so it's not like any of us are refusing to eat (which is very dangerous for a cat, especially an obese one as they can develop Hepatic Lipidosis), so Teri will monitor Disco's food intake and add more Rad Cat if he continues to lose the weight too fast.

But losing is great and makes Teri smile, to know that there is hope for sweet Mr. TOL to become a 'Hard Body' again!

Fashion (and Freedom) Friday!

Lotsa stuffs going on at our house this week!

First, Coco's Auction was a 'Purring' success, with over $700 raised!! We made some new furriends, too, as even some doggies donated items to Coco's Auction!

We are furry grateful for the support and giving and bidding and love of our Cat Blogosphere friends and she will be able to pay off a huge chunk of Coco's vet bill! And Teri is already saving up some things to donate to the next auction for the next kitty in need...

We found out that Sebastian, the Sensitive Soulis a kitty in need, fur sure! We met his mom, Amy, at Blog Paws and she is the most lovely young woman and we just found out that a fire destroyed their whole apartment complex on Thursday.

We are very scared of the thought of a fire taking our home and even us kitties and Teri, and Amy and her family are safe, and we are grateful about that, but they lost everything in the fire. The Cat Blogosphere, and Anipals and Facebook friends are rallying around and George the Duck set up a Chip In for them.

We donated some green papers and hope you can, too...

Here are links to some posts their friends have done...

Tragedy Strikes

A Tonk's Tail

And after that important announcement,  we return to our regular broadcast, with news about us Curlie Swirlie cats...

Teri did take Coco in to see her surgeon on Wednesday, as she was licking at the site where the implants are. Of course, there had to be a fashion show involved, for everyone's pleasure. Here's a few shots of Coco in her Mardi Gras outfit!

Coco was just glad that she doesn't have to go back again, cuz her March costume would have been this one, for St. Paddy's Day, hahameow (really! Instead the stuffie at the cat hospital is wearing it!).

The implants are pins to hold a piece of bone in place that the surgeon had to cut and move so the kneecap would align properly.

They are to stay in place unless they bother Coco or start to move. Well, they must be bothering her as she is licking, but they took xrays and the implants are stable, so we will wait and watch for now.

The other good news is that the physical therapy that Teri was doing on Coco helped increase her muscle mass to be within 1 cm of the 'healthy' leg, and as disappointed as some of you might be, there will be no videos of Coco in the Underwater Treadmill, hahameow.

Teri was glad to hear that, as it would be another added expense, but something she would have tried if it mean Coco would be helped by it. Of course, Coco never knew what might be ahead for her in that respect, but she is just happy that she now can have free run of the house again, after almost 2 months!

And Disco's down 3 ounces! So we hope to have good mews on his weekly weigh in on Monday! He got to nom on some fresh wheat grass today, but Teri later read it has 2 carbs per teaspoon...but mostly the cats just snip it off or yak it up later, so maybe he won't gain any weight, hahameow!

Us cats are eating some raw RadCat, but only if Teri mixes it in with Fancy Feast. But it's a start..

And Clem and Hero are doing great and got to meet for the first time today... When Disco met him last week, Disco was a bad cat and sprayed, and then Coco got to meet him, but she was a bit of a diva and hissed at him, and he doesn't need that since that's what the girl kitty he lived with before was like to him.

So even though it's early for Hero to be introduced to another cat, Teri has in her mind that Clem and Hero would make good roomies when/if Hero makes it to that level of his rehabilitation. So today, Teri let them meet and greet for 5 minutes and she will do that numerous times over the weekend, so she can supervise their interactions.

If all goes well, then she will rotate Clem and Hero between the bathroom and the guest room by themselves, also moving their litter boxes when they change rooms, so they aren't sharing boxes yet, until she knows they are ok with each others scents and interactions.

The other good news is that one of the vet techs at VOSM (where Coco had her surgery) is interested in adopting either Clement or Hero! She and her boyfriend have no other pets, which is perfect as the next step in their rehab... to go into a home with no other pets that is close enough to us that if it doesn't work out, that it will be simple to bring them back to the Curlie Swirlie house.

And who knows, if Clem and Hero are good buddies...maybe they would adopt them both. MeWowZa, Teri smiles thinking of that.

It was supposed to be warm and sunny here today but it's been raining on and off...Sammy got to have some freedom from the 'stud room' and he says he makes a very good office assistant paperweight, hahameow.

Teri is getting together with her friend, Voytek tomorrow and he is going to help her with doing her taxes (which will save her some money!) and so Teri said she'd make dinner at his place---Minted Pea Soup, Beef Stroganoff and Creme Brulee Ice Cream...

Oh, we thought you'd like to see Brighton schmoozing with Voytek when he came over last weekend. Teri is glad he's a cat lover, too...

Well, that catches everyone up with the mews around here...we hope you all have a perfect weekend and we hope we can get by to visit your bloggies some, too.

Mancat Monday--Disco's Diet

OMC...Disco's brought new meaning to the words
"Livin' Large"...

Here he is, 90 days into his diet plan and he weighs more than he did 18 months ago when he began the Nulo Simply Fit program.  16 pounds 3 ounces !! Below is a photo from August 2010...

When the folks at Young Again read Disco's post last week, they called Teri and asked her if she wanted to try their NO CARB dry food and offered to send Disco a free bag...

So Teri said, ok...what has Disco got to lose (oh, about 4 pounds). So the bag arrived today, delivered by the guy in the brown shorts (well, not in the winter time...).

Teri emptied out the food bowl of the Young Again 5% carb food (and gave it to Sammy, who could shed a pound, too) and filled up the bowl and everyone had a snack and enjoyed it!

Teri is also trying out some raw diets, too, but so far, we have turned out noses up at Stella and Chewy's and Pawgevity, but one of the clients at the cat hospital where Teri works brought us a tub of RadCat today and Disco thought that was pretty yummy!

And maybe by the time 'bathing suit' weather rolls around, Disco won't get sand cat litter kicked in his face at the beach water fountain !

Disco in his slender days, at about 11#...

Simply Late Sunday Evening...

We apologize fur not postin' since Whisker Hump Day...

It was Teri's purrthday on Thursday and she stuffed herself with Sweet and Sour Chicken and was too full to post, hahameow.

Then on Friday, Teri had to bust her 'tocks and get the xmas decorations boxed up and put away, finally. Way after Ground Hogs Day...

Then on Saturday, she had a date, and made brekkie for 2, then spent the day in Washington DC going to museums (the Annie Leibovitz exhibit and the American Building Museum to see Unbuilt Washington---both excellent exhibits) and then had a great dinner at her favorite restaurant, Jaleo...

And today, Teri worked on answering some questions on the first draft of her will and she got a little teary eyed when it came to the question of what music she would like played at her memorial service (no, she's not sick, she is just planning ahead and making sure we are taken care of if something happens to her..) and she knew she would want a cat song played...but which one? This is what she picked, and oh, it made her sniffy!

Brighton had to come over and be her office assistant...and that made Teri laff n laff, and that stopped the sniffies...

So here it is 11pm Sunday night (well, she had to watch Downton Abbey) and she wanted to let our furriends know what we cats have been up to, hahameow.

Coco Dancing...

and then stretching out her muscles after dancin'...

Teri wants to thank efurryone who has come over to Coco's Auction and bid on almost all of the items Coco's furriends have donated (we gave up our Hepper Pod). The auction ends on Tuesday and we want you all to know the green papers raised will go to help pay off Coco's knee surgery and we are soooo grateful for everyone's help.

(We wanted to keep that squeaky mouse)

Coco is doing really well, and started 'leash walking' around the house this weekend, going very slowly up and down the stairs.

The only thing that has Teri a little worried is that Coco started licking at a spot on her knee, and sometimes that is an indication of pain.

So, Teri took a picture and she'll email it to Dr Lotsikas to get his opinion, but for now she has stopped the leash walks...

Clement and Hero continue to be 'Good Cats' and are using their litter boxes with no 'accidents' still!
Teri took Hero's cage down Friday, so he now has 'free run' of the bathroom. He was anxious at first and vocalized a lot, but has settled in once again and seems happy.

And Clement got to meet Disco today and neither kitty grumbled or growled...but Disco proceeded to hop up on the bed and spray on the footboard! Teri wasn't fast enough to 'tuck his tail' down but fortunately she had a washable blankie tucked in so the spray was easy to clean up with Nose Offense.

So, as you can see, Teri and all us Curlie Swirlie cats have had a busy weekend and we hope yours was filled with lots to purr about, too...
